ブラシを選ぶ際は質の妥協をしないでください。安価のブラシは高価な塗料を購入しているのに無駄にすることもあります。
DIY塗装のよくある間違いに適切でないブラシの使用があります。
＊水性ベースの塗料を使用する際は、合成・ナイロン・またはポリエステルのブラシを使用してください。
＊オイルベースの塗料を使用する際には、動物または植物の短い堅い毛からできているブラシを使用してください。
もう一つの正しいブラシの選び方は、どの単繊維が適しているか考える必要があります。
＊滑らかな仕上がりを求めるなら先端が分かれるもの（1:04のsplit tipまたはflag tipのブラシ）
＊扱いやすさを求めるなら「カッター（cutter）」：sash cutter(サッシ用), angle cutter（先端に角度のあるもの）, oval cutter（取手側から見ると楕円形の形に纏まっているもの）をお勧めします：窓際を塗る際などに
あとは次に使うまでのブラシのメンテナンスもしっかりやりましょう
＊長いことブラシを水や溶剤に浸しっぱなしにしないこと
＊適切な溶剤で洗い、その後は石鹸水でリンスし、新聞紙や布に包む前に乾かしましょう
 
 When choosing a paint brush, don’t compromise on quality as a low-cost brush can waste your money despite buying high-quality paint. 
 A common mistake of DIY painting projects is using the wrong type of brush:
- If using water-based paints, use a brush with synthetic, nylon or polyester bristles.
- If using oil-based paints, use a natural bristle brush.
 Another consideration when learning how to choose the right paint brush, is what filaments are best suited for your application:
- Choose a split or flag tip for producing a smooth finish.
- Choose a cutter when painting requires more control, like a sash cutter, angle cutter or an oval cutter for painting window trims.
 Also be sure to take care of your brushes for future use:
- Don’t leave your brushes standing in water or solvent for extended periods of time.
- Clean your brushes in the recommended solvent wash, then a soapy water rinse, then leave to dry before wrapping them in newspaper or cloth.
